Denver, CO, March 17, 2016- Tonight, March 17, 2016 from 7pm to 9pm at the Posner Center, AfricAid is partnering with SOUL Foundation to host a special event with guest speaker Anne Anderson, Irish Ambassador to the United States. The foundations are honored to have Ms. Anderson coming to Denver from Washington, D.C. on St. Patrick’s Day, a holiday that recognizes Irish tradition. Ms. Anderson will be speaking about the value of education of girls around the world. The event is $10 per person and tickets will be available at the door. Proceeds from the event will support both AfricAid and SOUL Foundation.
AfricAid and SOUL Foundation are both members of the Posner Center in Denver. AfricAid’s mission is to educate the young girls in Africa through schools, supplies, scholarships and mentors. SOUL Foundation supports the people of Uganda through education, women’s empowerment, food security and maternal health. Both organizations are concerned about education for peoples in Africa so as to better their community, especially through women.
Women’s education has made recent news in the US as First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed her own mission to support girl’s education around the world. According to Mrs. Obama more than 62 million girls in the world are not in school, most of whom are unable to go for financial reasons. Through the efforts of Mrs. Obama, other government officials such as Anne Anderson and organizations such as AfricAid and SOUL Foundation, change for those girls in need of education is coming.
