Final presentation: April 5, 2016
Theme: Dignity for Refugees
Tagline: RU for Refugees
Purpose: To create awareness of refugee support opportunities and refugee centered organizations in Denver, CO for the Regis community. Ideally, the campaign will run for a week long period on campus. We have the potential to throw an event or two while also figuring out how to garner attention for the campaign on social media. We should include radio and print release in the Highlander. We can also look into pairing with Resident Life.

Estimated date: Week of March 28th, (week before we are presenting)- Should include a reflection in the presentation of how it went, what we would have done better, etc.

Potential tools to use:
-Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram?)
-Highlander (student newspaper)
-RU Connected
-on campus advertising (bulletin boards, radio, PowerPoint in cafe, Justice committee board, sidewalk art)

Rough draft idea: Highlight one or two refugee centered organizations in Denver. Have an event that highlights a third. Overall want to increase awareness about the issue and offer tools for helping. We could talk about having one or two representatives come to the event to talk with students or share their opportunities (a bit of a career fair style)

Event:
Possible Dates: March 31st (priority 5-8pm), and March 30th (second choice, 11am-1pm)
Length: Hour and half to two hours
What time: 5pm-7pm, 5:30-7:30pm on that potential Thursday (March 31st),
What is it: Refugee Artshow. Create your own refugee art on Walker’s pub tables. Create mural/collage- paint, colored pencils. Painting on Canvas cloth (talk Jackson). Music attuned to Refugee cultures. Gina-talk to coworkers about potentially displaying art.

Where is it: Walker’s Pub ideal. Faculty Lounge.
Who’s involved:
Learning Objectives: consider how we are going to carry through highlighting of organizations. Potentially have a slideshow that continuously plays (facts, people, locations, volunteer opportunities). Call to Action?
Planning checkmarks: research of impacted communities and current methods of support, venue availability, identify purpose of campaign
Notes:
According to CBS4, more than 50,000 refugees have been resettled in Denver over the past 35 years. Federal Gov’t refugee quota is currently 70,000, but predicted to rise to 75,000. Colorado takes in an average of 2% per year.
