FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Connecting the “Soul” of Denver to Africa
DENVER, CO, September 27, 2016- It is with great enthusiasm that AfricAid presents the 5th annual Art and Soul Gala on Thursday, October 13th, 2016 at the Posner Center. This is the nonprofit organization's largest event of the year. Art and Soul brings music, jewelry, food and other forms of art from Tanzania to Denver. The gala begins at 7 pm with a live auction beginning at 8 pm. Tickets are $100 per person, or $50 for professionals ages 18-35. Proceeds from ticket sales and auction items directly benefit AfricAid’s education projects in Tanzania for girls.
AfricAid’s mission is to educate young girls in Africa through schools, supplies, scholarships and mentors, as the way to better their community, especially through women. AfricAid’s most prominent KISA project, a program that matches former graduates of AfricAid’s school with current students in order to promote further education and involvement in the local community. Each KISA scholar requires $500 for supplies and resources for a successful mentorship per year.
Last year’s Art and Soul Gala fully supported more than six of the 40 KISA scholars for the year. This year AfricAid hopes to exceed last year. “In 2015 we hosted 175 guests and supported 6 KISA scholars for the year, this year we project to host more than 200 guests,” said Andra Breazeale, External Relations and Operations Manager of AfricAid. “Our volunteer planning committee has been working fervently since June to prepare a great spectacle all can enjoy.” The event is for all ages to experience a different culture through food, music, dance and art.
